brantly There are times when I wonder if this band spent a lot of time listening to 'Oxygen', by Jean-Michel Jarre and then combined with their Goblin based synth-scapes and pulsing anti-etudes to get this sound cuz, nobody ever references Jarre when reviewing Zombi. Just musing. Great record, I'll keep buying their records as they come out. But Jean-Michel Jarre...hmmmm

SokK Looooong before I discovered I was actually a fan of Synth Music, I loved this album with all my heart and kept it as an oddity in my music collection. Glad to buy it another time on Bandcamp ! Favorite track: Digitalis.

Cat Temper If you’re someone like me who always wished they could hear Rush songs from their weird early 80s coldwave phase without the vocals or guitar player then you are going to love this album.

about

The extraordinary two-piece Zombi has reappeared with Surface to Air, the long-awaited follow-up to its acclaimed debut Cosmos. Surface to Air teems with the stirring, trance-inducing deluges of rhythm and sound the duo is renowned for. Swelling waves of melodic synth ride atop a broad bass and drum foundation. Sequences of repetition roll, build, and unfold with the measured patience of master artisans. Less an album than a moving, breathing mass of symphonic sound; Surface to Air creates boundless moving pictures that are nothing short of breathtaking.

about

Zombi Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Producing work that is epic in concept, sound, and artistic approach, the masterminds and multi-instrumentalists behind Zombi have re-imagined the architecture of progressive rock and dynamic instrumentals by carving a niche in underground music distinctly their own. The band's signature sound is deceptively lush considering its two man skeleton crew ensemble. ... more
